What has Loews guided for 2026?

Ben Tisch, Loews’ chief executive, has emphasized preparing the balance sheets for difficult conditions instead of predicting when they will arrive. The clearest spending plan belongs to Boardwalk Pipelines, Loews’ gas-transportation business. Its 2026 capital budget is $845 million, divided between maintenance that keeps existing systems safe and growth spending that adds earning assets.

What this means. The matching low and high numbers are single estimates, not guaranteed ranges, and project dates may change if permits or construction take longer.

Has Loews kept its promises?

Ben’s promise was to increase intrinsic value per share without feeling compelled to acquire more businesses. The buybacks fit that promise, and the three Orlando hotels planned for the first half of 2025 opened during that period. The evidence points to owners and managers who share substantial financial exposure with outside shareholders, but whose family influence and discretionary pay require independent directors to keep asking whether each dollar truly earned its return.

What has Loews reported in the last eight quarters?

Loews earned $444 million in the quarter, against $391 million a year earlier. Revenue rose from $4,555 million to $4,734 million, and EPS rose from $1.87 to $2.16. Fewer shares helped the per-share result.

What this means. Revenue includes gains and losses from investments, so it is not just money from selling products or services.

What should Loews investors watch next?

The next evidence will come from projects, distributions and lawsuits. Loews is scheduled to report third-quarter results on November 2, 2026. That report should show whether spending is accelerating and whether subsidiary distributions remain strong.

Boardwalk expected Eunice–Iowa to enter service in September 2026, so confirmation matters more than the original target. Federal permitting for Kosciusko Junction was completed on September 23, 2026, while Texas Gateway remained in environmental review after a federal scoping notice on October 16. Approval reduces one uncertainty, but construction still has to deliver the asset at an acceptable cost.
