Loews dividend: payment, cash cover and yield
MyStockButler's October 2026 analysis: Loews pays $0.25 per share, and its dividend has stayed unchanged through the years shown. The cash discussion treats dividends, buybacks, and retained capital as the main uses of operating earnings, while subsidiary cash reaches the parent after its own needs.
How much does Loews pay in dividends over time?

The dividend stays at $0.25 per share in every case and every forecast year. That matches the unchanged annual payment from 2021 through 2025 and the latest quarterly declaration. Loews has paid quarterly dividends every year since 1967, while management gives no growth target. A flat dividend is therefore better supported than either an increase or a cut.
| 2025 | 2024 | 2023 | 2022 | 2021 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| − Dividends paid, per share | 0.25 | 0.25 | 0.25 | 0.25 | 0.25 |
| − Share buybacks, per share | 3.85 | 2.76 | 3.73 | 3.00 | 4.37 |
| = Kept, per share | 2.47 | 0.70 |
What this means. “Kept” subtracts share buybacks as well as dividends, so it means cash left after both ways of returning money to shareholders, not just profit left after dividends.
How much would Loews's dividend pay you?
$10,000 invested in Loews at its 0.2% dividend yield (our report of October 22, 2026) pays $20.00 in the first year, before tax. If its dividend per share keeps changing 0.0% a year, as it did from 2021 to 2025, and the dividends are reinvested, year 10 pays $20.36, with $201.81 received in all.
Before tax. Past dividend growth is not a promise. Information only, not investment advice.
Does Loews’s cash cover its dividend?
Loews favored buybacks over dividends. Across the five years, share repurchases greatly exceeded dividends. A buyback reduces the number of ownership pieces, so each remaining share represents a larger fraction of the company. But the benefit depends on price: buying below the businesses’ worth helps continuing owners, while overpaying destroys value.
The table also shows why payouts are not the same as an investment budget. Operating earnings left after dividends and buybacks are not simply cash available for acquisitions; depreciation, insurance reserves, borrowing and investment purchases also affect cash. An acquisition can appear on the consolidated cash-flow line, while an equity contribution to an unconsolidated business can appear elsewhere.

What could change Loews’s dividend?
The next scheduled third-quarter results on November 2, 2026 will test CNA’s underlying loss trends and reserve development. Persistent deterioration would move the forecast toward the bear case; stable or improving underwriting would support the base or bull cases.
Boardwalk’s construction programme runs through 2030, with growth spending already part of the capital plan. Delays, overruns or litigation would reduce subsidiary cash available for buybacks. On-time capacity additions and controlled spending would support the upside path.
What is Loews’s dividend yield against its share price?

| Market value (every class) (calculated) | 23,239.34 |
| Price to book (calculated) | 1.22x |
