What this means. “Distribution” and “Pipeline & Storage” are parts of the company’s net income, not cash payments to shareholders or storage costs.

Did Atmos Energy keep its past promises?

Management also kept a financial promise. On November 6, 2024, it forecast fiscal 2025 EPS of $7.05–$7.25 and an annual dividend of $3.48 per share. It delivered EPS of $7.46 and dividends of $3.48. Financial delivery supports confidence, but it cannot substitute for a safety scorecard.

What this means. The headline says four of five promises were kept, but the table lists four years for each of three forecasts, so the total is unclear.

What do Atmos Energy’s last eight quarters show?

Revenue rose from 838,774 in June 2025 to 879,059 in June 2026. Operating income rose from 252,067 to 320,414. Net income increased from 186,429 to 242,689, while diluted EPS rose from $1.16 to $1.43. The smaller per-share increase again reflects a larger share base.

Quarter-to-quarter comparisons are misleading because winter demand dominates. The eight-quarter record is therefore most useful for year-over-year comparisons, which show continuing improvement through a seasonal business.

What this means. Gross margin can be above 100 percent here because credits for gas costs were larger than the gas costs, so the company is not keeping more than all its sales as profit.

What should investors watch in Atmos Energy’s next results?

The next scheduled earnings call is November 5, 2026. It should compare fiscal 2026 results with the raised target and provide the next annual outlook. Management also expects most of seven pending rate filings to take effect in fiscal 2027’s first quarter, October–December 2026. Their actual dates will show whether regulatory recovery is keeping pace with construction.

From the full memo · 1. The business

Atmos Energy is a regulated natural-gas utility: it moves fuel through pipes, charges for access, and earns most of its return from the network rather than the gas itself. To understand its business, follow the gas, the bill and the dollars through four questions: what it sells, how it earns, who pays, and what happens when bills become hard to afford.
