Where could Tencent’s shares go?

Tencent’s weighted forecast reaches HK$575.73 by October 2029 if cash growth and AI investment earn returns. From HK$424.80, that is a 41% return including dividends. Management will more than double investment in new AI products during the year ending December 2026, but has set no dated group-wide AI profitability target.

The bear case is HK$292.57 with 25% probability. The bull case is HK$880.88 with 20% probability. The remaining 55% is the base case. The path depends on established businesses growing while AI monetization gradually offsets investment. Toward year-end 2026 and into 2027, GPU and ASIC capacity—chips for the heavy calculations that train and run AI—must become paid external cloud and model demand, with utilization and cash conversion improving. Through 2027–2029, game launches need licensing, retention and spending, while Channels must deliver advertiser returns without weakening engagement.

What has to go right or wrong for Tencent?

EBITDA is the main operating choice. Base EBITDA rises from RMB385,000 million to RMB480,000 million; the bear case falls from RMB340,000 million to RMB380,000 million; the bull case rises from RMB400,000 million to RMB550,000 million. The base reflects H1 growth of 8.6%, continued advertising and games growth, and analyst revenue estimates, while AI investment restrains margins. The bear assumes weak utilization and softer advertising or games. The bull requires repeat AI demand and profitable cloud capacity.

How much cash does Tencent really make?

Share-based pay deserves a separate deduction. It does not use cash immediately, but it transfers economic value to employees. Subtracting it from free cash flow produces a more demanding measure of what the business generated for existing owners. That measure recovered in 2025, although its margin remained below the earlier level because Tencent was committing more money to assets and infrastructure.
