What has PTC guided for FY2026?

For FY2026, management guides to 9.0%–9.5% constant-currency ARR growth, excluding the businesses sold in March. ARR is the annualized value of active recurring contracts. Revenue measures what accounting says PTC has delivered, while deferred ARR describes signed business whose service has not started. RPO is wider: it includes contracted work still waiting to be delivered. A Windchill contract signed in December but beginning in January may therefore appear in RPO before it appears in ARR.

The cash promise is approximately $880 million of operating cash flow and $850 million of free cash flow after capital spending. Free cash flow is operating cash less capital expenditure. Disposal costs and taxes distort the forecast, so an illustrative adjustment produces roughly $950 million of underlying cash generation. That is a comparison tool, not spare cash in the bank.

What this means. The forecasted free cash flow includes one-time divestiture costs, taxes, cash contributions, and office-move spending, so it may not show the company's normal cash generation.

Did PTC keep its past promises?

Barua’s reported fiscal 2025 compensation was about US$24.3 million, including equity valued when granted rather than cash received. PTC’s incentive plan used free cash flow, meaning cash left after operating costs and capital spending. The target was US$830 million; actual free cash flow of US$857 million produced a 135% payout.

That is what happened in fiscal 2025. ARR growth was 8.5%, below that year’s 9% target. It also missed the 10% targets embedded in earlier grants. PTC therefore beat its cash goal without meeting every growth promise.

What this means. Revenue comparisons are harder to trust because the company included Kepware and ThingWorx for different lengths of time in different years.

What has PTC's last eight quarters shown?

Revenue, operating income, and diluted earnings per share all fell from the prior-year quarter. Gross margin also slipped. Two changes explain much of the apparent deterioration: Kepware and ThingWorx were no longer included, and one large renewal-and-expansion contract had a shorter duration, which reduced upfront license recognition.

What this means. The very high net income in March 2026 includes a one-time gain from selling Kepware and ThingWorx, so it does not show the company's usual profit.

From the full memo · 1. The business

PTC Inc. sells software that helps companies design physical products, control the information behind them, and keep those products working. Its business is easiest to understand as a flow: industrial customers pay for subscriptions and related help, while PTC spends that revenue on people, technology, sales, and delivery.
