Johnson Controls earnings date and guidance
Johnson Controls’ next results are expected on October 27, 2026. Watch whether Johnson Controls turns its targets into cash and starts coolant-distribution-unit shipments.
What has Johnson Controls guided for the year?
In late July, Johnson Controls raised its outlook for fiscal 2026. Its targets cover organic sales growth, which removes currency effects and acquisitions or disposals, and adjusted earnings, which exclude selected items that management regards as outside ongoing operations. The table contains the full-year and fourth-quarter promises.
| Period guided | Low | High | Date given | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Organic sales growth — full year | Year to Sep 2026 | 8.0% | 8.0% | Jul 29, 2026 |
| Operating leverage — full year | Year to Sep 2026 | 45.0% | 50.0% | Jul 29, 2026 |
| Adjusted EPS — full year | Year to Sep 2026 | 5.05 | 5.05 | Jul 29, 2026 |
| Adjusted free cash flow conversion — full year | Year to Sep 2026 | 100.0% | 100.0% | Jul 29, 2026 |
| Organic sales growth — fourth quarter | Quarter to Sep 2026 | 9.0% | 10.0% | Jul 29, 2026 |
| Adjusted EPS — fourth quarter | Quarter to Sep 2026 | 1.55 | 1.55 | Jul 29, 2026 |
What this means. These are the company's forecasts for the year and quarter, not the actual results, which had not been reported yet.
Did Johnson Controls keep its past promises?
The 2023–25 performance-share cycle shows the tension. Pretax earnings growth and recurring revenue, meaning repeat contractual business such as service agreements, fell below target. Relative total shareholder return, which combines share-price gains and dividends against industrial companies, ranked in the top quartile. The weighted result still paid 124.2% of target. Shareholders did receive strong returns, but market success offset weaker operating results. That makes the award defensible as a shareholder-return reward, not proof of durable business improvement.
What is Johnson Controls’ eight-quarter revenue and profit trend?
The June 2026 quarter was persuasive because sales, margins, profit and cash all improved together.
| Jun 2026 | Mar 2026 | Dec 2025 | Sep 2025 | Jun 2025 | Mar 2025 | Dec 2024 | Sep 2024 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | 6,614 | 6,142 | 5,797 | 6,442 | 6,052 | 5,676 | 5,426 | 6,248 |
| Gross margin | 37.4% | 36.8% | 35.8% | 36.5% | 37.1% | 36.5% | 35.5% | 36.3% |
| Operating income | 987 | 804 | 766 | 430 | 778 | 580 | 494 | 767 |
| Net income | 749 | 609 | 555 | 267 | 618 | 473 | 363 | 536 |
| EPS, diluted | 1.23 | 0.99 | 0.90 | 0.42 | 0.94 | 0.71 | 0.55 | 0.80 |
| = Free cash flow | 1,194 | 604 | 531 | 838 | 693 | 456 | 133 | 1,157 |
What this means. The cash from operations and free cash flow figures for March 2025 and March 2026 are not standalone three-month amounts; they are calculated by subtracting the December quarter from six months of cash flow.
What should you watch in Johnson Controls’ next results?
The next decisive evidence will show whether JCI converted its targets into cash, turned data-center interest into shipments and contained its environmental obligations.
The first operating test is the progress of coolant distribution units. Management said shipments would begin in the September quarter, while some large customers were still validating the equipment. Validation is a customer’s reliability and performance test. A pipeline is only possible business; revenue arrives after approval, manufacture, delivery and payment.
