How much does Global Payments pay per share over time?

Global Payments (GPN) dividend per share: $0.89 paid in 2021, $1.00 in 2025; our forecast: $1.08 in Oct 2029; dividend yield 1.2 %

The base dividend stays at $1.00 through October 2027, then rises to $1.04 and $1.08. The bear case cuts it to $0.80 from October 2028, while the bull reaches $1.04, $1.12 and $1.20. The current quarterly dividend annualizes to $1.00, but $18.146 billion of net debt and first-half operating cash flow below capital spending make increases conditional on cash improvement.

What this means. The 2025 and 2024 results combine businesses, so they may not match the company's official numbers because the acquisition is counted differently.

Does Global Payments’ cash cover its dividend?

Across calendar years 2021–2025, capital expenditure totalled about $3.06 billion and cash acquisition spending about $6.94 billion. Over the same period, ordinary share repurchases totalled $8.62 billion, while dividends totalled $1.29 billion. Capital expenditure mainly supported software, hardware and processing infrastructure: the machinery of payments rather than a physical factory.

In the first half of 2026, operating cash flow was US$373,798 thousand. Capital expenditures were US$497,000 thousand, leaving negative US$123,202 thousand before further adjustments. Management’s Q2 adjusted free cash flow was US$687 million, or about 75% of adjusted net income, but that answers a different question from the statutory cash-flow statement.

What could change Global Payments’ dividend?

The view would move toward the bear case in 2027 if travel weakness or lower-yield payment-facilitator volume pushed normalized revenue and EPS below the revised outlook. It would weaken further in 2027–2028 if delayed savings, integration spending and weak cash flow kept leverage above the target path.

What is Global Payments’ dividend yield today?

A forward P/E compares today’s share price with forecast earnings per share over the next twelve months. It is not a five-year payback promise. Acquired customer relationships and technology are recorded as intangible assets, then amortized, which lowers accounting profit without another cash payment in that quarter. During the second quarter of 2026, GPN added back $757.6 million of acquired-intangible amortization; GAAP diluted EPS was $0.05, while adjusted EPS was $3.46. The forward ratio therefore needs a clear earnings definition: its implied EPS is roughly $16.20, above management’s August guidance of $13.60–$13.80 for calendar 2026.

What this means. The enterprise value is much higher than the market value because it includes debt and subtracts cash, showing the cost of buying the whole business, not just its shares.
