ICBC earnings: date, guidance and results
ICBC's next results are expected on October 31, 2026. Watch whether deposit repricing supports the margin as expected while fees, provisions and troubled lending remain controlled.
What has ICBC guided for the year?
On 28 August 2026, ICBC set four continuing objectives: maintain sound capital adequacy, adopt more advanced capital measurement, allocate capital more efficiently and strengthen its capital base. These are disciplines for safe growth, not promises to reach a particular profit or return by a particular date.
| Period covered | Target in the bank's words | Date given | |
|---|---|---|---|
| maintain sound capital adequacy | Ongoing | maintain sound capital adequacy to meet regulatory and policy requirements on capital, keep stable capital base to ensure the implementation of the Group’s business growth and strategic plans in order to achieve comprehensive, balanced, and sustainable development; | 28 August 2026 |
| adopt the advanced capital measurement approach | Ongoing | adopt the advanced capital measurement approach, improve the internal capital adequacy assessment process (ICAAP), publicly disclose information on capital management, cover all types of material risks, and ensure stable operations of the Group; | 28 August 2026 |
| improve the capital allocation efficiency | Ongoing | leverage on the results of quantitative assessments of material risks fully, establish a bank-wide value management mechanism with a core of economic capital, improve the aligned policies, processes, and applications in business management, strengthen the capital constraints and capital incentives mechanism, enhance the abilities of product pricing and decision-making support, and improve the capital allocation efficiency; and | 28 August 2026 |
| continuously enhance capital strengths | Ongoing | make effective use of various capital instruments, continuously enhance capital strengths, refine the capital structure, improve capital quality, reduce capital costs, and maximise shareholders’ returns. | 28 August 2026 |
What is ICBC's revenue and profit trend?
Second-quarter revenue and net interest income both improved from the comparable period. Seeing improvement in both quarters is more persuasive than relying on one unusually strong quarter after years of margin compression.
First-half credit charges were higher than in the comparable period, and the CET1 ratio was lower. The result is stronger income generation with a continuing credit and capital bill.

What should you watch in ICBC's next results?
Results will test whether deposit repricing continues to support the margin as expected. Investors should also watch fees, provisions and the absolute amount of troubled lending, because a falling bad-loan ratio can partly reflect a growing loan book.
The essential question is whether retained earnings and new common equity can keep pace with the capital required by ICBC’s growth ambitions.
