Did PetroChina keep its dividend promise?
The dividend record offers clearer evidence of delivery. The articles set a conditional minimum of 30% of attributable profit. Management described a 45% practice, and the payout from 2025 profit was 54.7%. These are different standards: a conditional rule, a stated intention and cash actually distributed. The last is strongest evidence, but every dividend also leaves less cash for drilling, storage and other investment.
What do PetroChina’s last eight quarters show?
The June 2026 quarter brought a strong earnings rebound, driven partly by higher oil prices and a derivative gain. Revenue rose to RMB791,108 million, while shareholder net income reached RMB55,603 million. EPS rose to RMB0.31 from RMB0.21 a year earlier.

What should investors watch in PetroChina’s next results?
The October 26 interim-dividend payment is the nearest cash commitment. Nine-month results through September should then show whether investment is accelerating and whether operating cash continues to cover it. The key evidence is cash after spending and distributions, not profit growth alone.
