What has Verizon guided for 2026?
Management guides to 2.5%–3.0% mobility and broadband service-revenue growth in 2026, with 4.0% growth in the fourth quarter. Its adjusted-EPS target is $4.99–$5.04, with expected growth of 6.0%–7.0%. Did Verizon keep its past promises?
The earlier 2023–2025 cycle shows why the rules deserve attention. Adjusted cumulative free cash flow was US$55.7 billion against a US$57.0 billion target. The relevant portion still vested at 98%, because the payout curve already awarded 90% at an earlier threshold and rose toward the target. Other measures brought the overall PSU payout to 78%.
What has Verizon's revenue and profit trend been?
Revenue fell year over year, while mobility and broadband service revenue rose 2.8%. Equipment revenue fell nearly 20% as customers kept phones longer and Verizon reduced subsidies. Gross margin rose from 59.8% to 61.8%, showing how fewer handset sales can improve the mix.
Operating income fell from $8,172 million to $7,179 million. The main distortion was a $746 million pre-tax disposal loss on the international wireline business intended for the BT joint venture; after tax, the cost was $775 million. Removing it would raise net income to $4,610 million and EPS to $1.11, but profit would still be down 7.9%.
