Reckitt dividend: pay, cash cover and yield
Reckitt's latest interim dividend rose 5%, and its dividend path assumes continuity rather than aggressive distribution growth. In 2025, Reckitt generated less free cash flow than it returned through dividends and buybacks.
How much does Reckitt pay in dividends per share?
The dividend path assumes continuity, not aggressive distribution growth. Base DPS rises from £2.27 in 2027 to £2.50 in 2029. The bear holds at £1.80 after a cut, while the bull reaches £2.65. The latest interim dividend rose 5%, and the historical series has increased each year, but first-half free cash flow was only £419m and net debt was £9.38bn.

What this means. Revenue here excludes the sold Essential Home business, so it may not match the company's official total, which still includes that business.
Does Reckitt's dividend cash flow cover its payouts?
Dividends give shareholders cash directly, while buybacks use cash to repurchase Reckitt shares. In 2025, Reckitt generated £1,709 million of free cash flow but returned £2,282 million through those two routes. Disposals and borrowing helped fund the difference, so shareholder returns rose even as financial flexibility narrowed.
At the end of 2025, Reckitt held £1,952 million of cash and short-term investments against £8,156 million of debt. The 2026 Essential Home return included a £1,578 million special dividend. Company-defined net debt later reached £9,380 million, showing the balance-sheet cost of distribution. Reckitt’s cash policy therefore frames whether simplification creates value.

What this means. The company's own net debt is higher because it includes lease payments it owes and financial contracts, while our count leaves those out.
What could change Reckitt's dividend?
By the end of 2027, fixed costs moving toward 19% of sales would support the base or bull margin paths. Persistent stranded costs and narrow share gains would move them lower. From 2027 to 2029, cash conversion, debt reduction and the ability to continue buybacks will distinguish the cases. Litigation outcomes will affect both financing confidence and the multiple.

What is Reckitt's dividend yield against its share price?
The 4.0% ordinary dividend yield must also be separated from the £1.6 billion special dividend. The 24-for-25 share consolidation reduced the number of shares after that payment; it created no wealth. Today’s valuation therefore needs a cleaner comparison with Reckitt’s own history.
