What has Prudential guided for the year?
Management targets adjusted operating ROE of 13%–15% for 2025–2027. It wants PGIM at 25% of adjusted operating income over multiple years and margins above 30% over time. It also targets a $750 million pretax efficiency-benefit run-rate by year-end 2028. Parent highly liquid assets have a $3,000 million ongoing minimum. Japan’s estimated impact is $500 million in 2026. It is $500 million–$550 million in 2027.
Japan is the immediate counterweight. Prudential of Japan’s impact is about $500 million pretax in 2026 and $500 million–$550 million in 2027. Gibraltar adds $100 million in 2026 and $175 million in 2027. These figures combine lost earnings and expenses, so the test is whether growth elsewhere can offset them.

What this means. The blank earnings-growth ranges mean the company gave only general descriptions, such as low double-digit growth, instead of exact numbers.
How have Prudential's results changed over the last eight quarters?
Net income rose from $533 million in second-quarter 2025 to $985 million in second-quarter 2026. Core earnings rose more moderately, from $1,284 million to $1,438 million.
The annual assumption review charged GAAP income $299 million after tax while benefiting operating income by $51 million. Excluding the reviews, core earnings rose from $1,320 million to $1,387 million. PGIM improved and Group Insurance benefited from mortality, but expense, underwriting and Japan-related pressures remained uneven. The latest quarter therefore points to progress, not a clean acceleration.

What should you watch in Prudential's next results?
Prudential will release third-quarter earnings on November 3, 2026, followed by its call on November 4. Investors will need customer flows, expenses and capital alongside the preliminary investment-income figures. Restated comparisons also matter because Brazil and Mexico are moving into divested and run-off businesses, while the former International segment becomes Japan Businesses.
