What has Airtel Africa guided for the year ending March 2027?

Management has promised $1,100m of capex for the year ending March 2027, announced on 8 May 2026 and reaffirmed in July. Capex means spending on assets that should serve customers for several years, such as network equipment and cables. The plan excludes spectrum acquisitions and licence renewals. Spectrum is the limited radio space used to connect phones, so buying a ten-year right to use Nigeria’s 900MHz band is a regulatory payment, not physical network construction. Airtel Nigeria paid $37m for such a renewal in April 2026.

Did Airtel Africa keep its past promises?

The previous year offers evidence that management can deliver revised guidance. Airtel invested $884m in the year ended March 2026 after raising its spending range. But completing the programme is only the first test; the assets must also earn an adequate return.

What is Airtel Africa's revenue and profit trend?

Revenue was $1,853m in June 2026, up from $1,415m in June 2025. Operating income rose from $446m to $627m. This continued the progression from September 2024 through March 2026, although currency and Nigeria’s tariff anniversary made the comparison less generous than the dollar headline suggested.

What this means. Free cash flow is lower here because this report also subtracts lease payments and interest paid, not just money spent on equipment.

What should people watch in Airtel Africa's next results?

Airtel is scheduled to report half-year results on 30 October 2026. The nine-month update is due on 29 January 2027, followed by the full-year results on 13 May 2027. September spending will show whether June was an early burst or the start of a sustained pace, while customer, revenue and cash figures will show whether the new capacity is working.
