Where could JD.com’s shares be by 2029?

JD.com’s weighted path is HK$196.12 in October 2027 (+89%) and HK$285.37 in October 2029 (+180%), but it hinges on earnings recovery, smaller New Businesses losses and continued capital returns. Management expects group revenue to return to positive growth in the second half of 2026 and JD Retail to return to growth in Q3, alongside stronger group profit growth and substantially smaller food-delivery losses.

The forecast puts JD.com at HKD196.12 in October 2027, HKD239.81 in October 2028 and HKD285.37 in October 2029, including dividends. These prices imply returns of 89%, 133% and 180% from HKD106.20. By 2029, however, the bear case reaches HKD74.44 while the bull case reaches HKD670.73, so the probability-weighted figure conceals substantial execution risk.

What this means. The weighted row is the probability-based average of the bear, base, and bull prices, not a guaranteed future share price.

What has to go right for JD.com—and what could go wrong?

The central case is a recovery in earnings, continued buybacks and a measured valuation. The bear case reflects weak demand and continuing losses in New Businesses; the bull case requires stronger marketplace growth, better logistics productivity and a higher multiple.

The bull case requires third-party marketplace activity to outgrow first-party sales, logistics efficiency to improve and food-delivery subsidies to fall. Stronger cash generation then supports buybacks and a 22x multiple. Prices reach HKD357.09 first and HKD670.73 last, with a 20% probability. The upside is credible because JD has more than one million marketplace merchants and faster 3P than 1P GMV growth, but sustained execution is unproven.

How much cash does JD.com really make?

Free cash flow subtracts spending on warehouses, equipment and software from operating cash. Treating stock compensation as an economic cost produces a stricter measure because employees receive a claim that otherwise belongs to existing owners. JD’s own free-cash-flow measure is higher because it adjusts consumer-financing receivables and uses capital spending net of related sales proceeds. That definition may be reasonable, but it is not interchangeable with the simpler measure.

What this means. The company's own free cash flow is higher because it leaves out cash items that our count treats as money that has left the company.
