What has BYD guided for 2026?

The commitment is 20,000 FLASH Charging stations in China by December 2026. The system combines a car battery with charging stations that use stationary energy storage. That storage can deliver a powerful burst without requiring the local grid to provide all the electricity at once. But the promise is useful only if drivers can find working stations, and if those stations can recharge their own storage between busy periods.

The plan includes urban installations and highway sites. Using existing charging locations may reduce the work of finding land, but BYD still has to supply equipment, install it and keep it operating. The network therefore requires more than a successful technology demonstration.

What this means. The five-kilometer urban coverage radius means areas within five kilometers of a station, not that five kilometers of roads or cities are covered.

Did BYD keep its vehicle sales promise?

Management’s sales target also needs to be judged against its first promise. BYD initially indicated 5.5 million vehicle sales for 2025, then lowered the target to 4.6 million. Actual sales were 4,602,436, so the company met the revised goal but missed the original one.

What do BYD's recent results show?

Q2 2026 earned more profit from less revenue, but the first half remained weaker than the previous year.

Revenue was RMB194,590.107 million, down 3.2%. Parent profit rose 29.7% to RMB8,240.857 million, while gross margin improved from 16.3% to 18.9%. That combination suggests better mix or economics, especially in overseas vehicles.

What this means. The company’s profit includes its finance arm’s share of earnings, but its sales and operating cash flow leave out that arm’s lending activity, so these rows are not directly comparable.
