Thermo Fisher Scientific earnings
Thermo Fisher Scientific's next results are due on October 21, 2026. The key thing to watch is organic growth.
What has Thermo Fisher Scientific guided for 2026?
Thermo Fisher expects a GAAP effective tax rate of 9.0%–11.0% for 2026 and an adjusted rate of 11.5%. It also expects to pay $1,500 million in cash taxes, because some acquisition-related amortization lowers accounting profit without reducing taxable income.
Operating cash flow was $3,317 million in the first half of 2026, and free cash flow was $2,503 million. Free cash flow is operating cash left after net capital spending, so it is the cash engine for acquisitions, dividends, buybacks and debt reduction. Management’s full-year target is $6.9 billion–$7.4 billion. That requires approximately $4.4 billion–$4.9 billion in the second half.

Has Thermo Fisher Scientific kept its past promises?
Some promises have bound. After Thermo Fisher reduced its external outlook during 2025, the compensation committee kept the original targets. The annual incentive and performance-stock programs therefore paid below target. The preceding completed performance-stock cycle paid zero for Casper and most other named executives.
What have Thermo Fisher Scientific's last eight quarters shown?
The sequence of recent quarters strengthens the case for recovery. Reported year-on-year growth accelerated through June, and all four segments contributed. Comparing equivalent quarters is more useful than treating a single sequential change as a trend.
Cash supplied the more convincing confirmation. Operating cash rose to $2,125 million, even as capital spending increased to $450 million. Free cash flow reached $1,675 million. March also improved, though its EPS included a $175 million domestication tax benefit.
