M&T Bank earnings date and guidance
M&T Bank is expected to report its next results on January 19, 2027. Watch whether net interest income, fees, expenses and credit losses meet guidance as funding costs and loan growth evolve.
What has M&T Bank guided for 4Q26?
For the fourth quarter of 2026, M&T expects net interest income within the range shown below and assumes one additional rate increase. Net interest income is what the bank earns on loans and investments minus what it pays depositors and other funders. A rate increase helps only if asset yields rise faster than funding costs. In 3Q26, higher funding costs partly offset the benefit of assets repricing, while net interest margin was 3.65%. The forecast therefore depends on how quickly both sides of the balance sheet respond.
Credit is the other immediate test. Net charge-offs are loans that M&T has written down after deciding they will not be fully collected, less amounts later recovered. In 3Q26, M&T reported $127 million of net charge-offs and a 0.35% ratio. That ratio means realized losses equal roughly four-tenths of one percent of average loans, so faster loan growth can increase future income while also increasing the dollars exposed to losses.

What should you watch in M&T Bank's next results?
Start with net interest income and the assumed rate increase. Then compare fee income and expenses. Together, those lines will show whether enterprise investment is occurring alongside stable revenue and controlled costs. Credit losses will show whether loan growth is bringing an acceptable level of risk.
Read capital and payouts together. The latest CET1 ratio is close to the low end of management’s fourth-quarter target, so continued lending and repurchases will matter only if earnings and capital generation replenish the cushion quickly enough.
