Lumentum earnings date and guidance
Lumentum's next results are expected on November 5, 2026. The key watch is whether Lumentum's revenue, margin and cash show profitable progress.
What has Lumentum guided for the next quarter?
Management’s August 11, 2026 guidance calls for September-quarter revenue of $1,225 million to $1,275 million. It calls for a 39.5%–40.5% non-GAAP operating margin. Diluted EPS is $4.05–$4.35. The guidance is based on 102.0 million diluted shares, and its revenue midpoint is above the $1.25 billion quarterly milestone.
| The period guided | Low | High | The date it was given | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Net revenue | Quarter to Sep 2026 | 1,225 | 1,275 | Aug 11, 2026 |
| Non-GAAP operating margin | Quarter to Sep 2026 | 39.5% | 40.5% | Aug 11, 2026 |
| Non-GAAP diluted net income per share | Quarter to Sep 2026 | 4.05 | 4.35 | Aug 11, 2026 |
| Diluted Shares – M | Quarter to Sep 2026 | 102.0 | 102.0 | Aug 11, 2026 |
| effective tax rate | Quarter to Sep 2026 | 16.5% | 16.5% | Aug 11, 2026 |
What this means. “Non-GAAP” means the company has left out some costs using its own adjusted method, so these figures are not the standard accounting results.
Has Lumentum kept its past promises?
There is tangible delivery to credit. A prior forecast of more than $600 million for the June quarter was followed by actual revenue of $1,006.3 million. Management also said shipments of 1.6-terabit transceivers had begun as planned. A transceiver sends and receives data by converting electrical signals into light and back again; the 1.6T example combines eight 200-gigabit-per-second lanes. Capacity matters because demand helps shareholders only if Lumentum can build reliable modules on time.
What is Lumentum's results trend?
Revenue rose in every quarter shown across the eight-quarter sequence. That matters more than one record quarter because it shows acceleration rather than a single shipment spike. Components and Systems both contributed, so the improvement was broader than one product launch.
Profit followed shipments. Gross margin improved sharply from the prior-year quarter, and operating income moved from a loss to a substantial profit. Management reported record 800G transceiver shipments and the start of 1.6T production, alongside better manufacturing yield and utilization. The current earnings base therefore rests mainly on products already shipping at scale, while the faster generation is still entering production.
| Jun 2026 | Mar 2026 | Dec 2025 | Sep 2025 | Jun 2025 | Mar 2025 | Dec 2024 | Sep 2024 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | 1,006.3 | 808.4 | 665.5 | 533.8 | 480.7 | 425.2 | 402.2 | 336.9 |
| Gross margin | 47.4% | 44.2% | 36.1% | 34.0% | 33.3% | 28.8% | 24.8% | 23.1% |
| Operating income | 279.3 | 174.5 | 64.3 | 6.7 | -8.4 | -37.7 | -51.6 | -82.4 |
| Net income | -7,161.7 | 144.2 | 78.2 | 4.2 | 213.3 | -44.1 | -60.9 | -82.4 |
| EPS, diluted | -84.65 | 1.50 | 0.89 | 0.05 | 2.96 | -0.64 | -0.88 | -1.21 |
| = Free cash flow | 196.2 | 79.1 | 43.1 | -18.3 | 10.1 | -64.4 | -15.9 | -34.5 |
What this means. The very large loss in June 2026 mainly comes from a noncash accounting charge for ending debt, so it does not mean the company paid out that much cash.
What should I watch in Lumentum's next results?
Lumentum is scheduled to report the September quarter on November 5, 2026. Revenue will show whether the accelerated target arrived, while operating margin will show whether manufacturing economics kept pace. Cash flow and capital spending will reveal how much of that progress can finance the following quarter.
