Is GE HealthCare's dividend covered by its cash?
Operating cash flow was $1,987 million in 2025, against net income of $2,084 million. Capital spending of $482 million left $1,505 million of free cash flow. Free cash flow is operating cash after investment in factories, equipment and capitalized software, so it is the cash available for debt repayment, dividends, acquisitions or shareholder returns.
The allocation became more demanding in 2026. GE HealthCare used $300 million for first-half buybacks and borrowed $650 million under a term facility to help finance Intelerad. Buybacks reduce the number of shares sharing future earnings, but they also consume money that could repay debt, fund acquisitions or support pensions. The remaining question is whether the investments will produce durable cash after those obligations.

What this means. The “paid to minority owners” row is not a clean dividend payment because it also includes other accounting and currency movements, so it may overstate the cash actually paid to outside owners.
What could change GE HealthCare's dividend?
From 2027 onward, cash generation and debt will decide the pace of buybacks and dividend increases. Intelerad’s software retention, lower net debt and evidence of free-cash-flow conversion above 90% of adjusted net income would justify higher earnings confidence and a higher multiple.
