Emerson earnings: next results and guidance
Emerson's next results are expected on November 4, 2026. Watch whether software revenue rebounds while ACV continues to grow.
What has Emerson guided for the year?
Emerson’s fiscal year ends in September. Its August guidance raised underlying sales growth from 3% to 3.5% and moved adjusted earnings per share to the top of its previous range. Underlying growth strips out currency translation and major acquisitions or disposals, so it shows more clearly what the existing business sold.
For the year to September 2026, management promises 3.5% underlying sales growth, $6.55 adjusted EPS and $3,600 million of free cash flow. It also guides to $1,000 million of share repurchases and $1,200 million of dividends.

Has Emerson kept its past promises?
Management forecast adjusted earnings per share in a US$5.85–US$6.05 range. It forecast free cash flow in a US$3.2–US$3.3 billion range. Actual results were US$6.00 and US$3.245 billion, so both operating promises landed inside their ranges. The buyback promise was weaker: the plan called for approximately US$2 billion, while actual repurchases were US$1,167 million.
What do Emerson's last eight quarters show?
Sales rose from $4,553 million to $4,873 million. Operating income rose from $829 million to $1,001 million. Matching-quarter comparisons matter because project shipments and software renewals can make adjacent quarters misleading.
Underlying profitability still improved. Adjusted EPS rose from $1.52 to $1.71. Adjusted EBITA margin rose from 26.0% to 26.7%, despite restructuring, acquisition-related costs and discrete taxes. Operating cash flow reached $1,425 million. Free cash flow reached $1,323 million, though the refund contributed to the improvement.

What this means. Free cash flow is cash from daily business minus spending on equipment, buildings, and software, so the spending numbers reduce the final total.
