Chevron earnings: date, guidance and what to watch
Chevron's next results are expected on October 30, 2026. Watch whether Chevron's reliable plants and lower costs still generate cash as market conditions change.
What has Chevron guided for the year?
For 2026, management guides to higher production and growth excluding asset sales. Oil equivalent puts oil and gas on one common energy measure. Excluding asset sales matters because selling a producing field can reduce reported output even when the remaining fields perform well. The target is a full-year average, so one strong quarter cannot settle the question.
Beyond 2026, management expects production to grow annually and adjusted free cash flow to grow by more than ten percent at a specified Brent price. Free cash flow is operating cash left after capital spending; “adjusted” means Chevron applies its own reconciliation. Planned buybacks also depend on a range of Brent prices. Chevron controls drilling and costs more directly than it controls the market price of oil, so the guidance table is the proper place to compare its production, spending, cash-return and balance-sheet commitments.

|---|---|---|---|---|

Has Chevron kept its past promises?
Management’s promises can also be tested. Wirth said Chevron had captured US$1.5 billion of Hess synergies six months ahead of schedule. A synergy is a benefit from combining businesses, such as removing duplicate offices. He also cited US$3 billion of annual run-rate savings. A run rate is the yearly pace implied by current savings, not necessarily cash already saved, so the baseline and durability matter.
What is Chevron's recent revenue and profit trend?
June 2026 was much stronger, but timing and market conditions amplified the improvement.
Timing effects then magnified the change. Derivatives can be revalued before the physical cargo they protect is sold, while inventory accounting can also separate current market prices from recognized cost. Chevron reported a US$2.9 billion unfavorable timing effect in March and a US$1.5 billion favorable effect in June. That reversal explains much of the sequential swing without permanently lowering production costs.
