Cenovus earnings date and guidance
Cenovus's next results are expected on October 29, 2026. Watch whether West White Rose reached first oil and whether oil-sands production held up after maintenance.
What has Cenovus guided for 2026?
Cenovus’s 2026 plan promises more production without a larger capital budget, but not all of that increase is permanent capacity.
Price assumptions matter too. Guidance uses US$75 WTI and US$61 Western Canada Select. WTI is a benchmark for North American oil; WCS is a Canadian heavy-oil benchmark. Their US$14 difference measures the discount that heavy crude typically receives because it needs more processing and transport. Cenovus’s upgraders and refineries partly capture value later in the chain.
| Period guided | Low | High | Date given | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oil Sands total, Production (MBOE/d) | Year to Dec 2026 | 780 | 805 | Jul 28, 2026 |
| Oil Sands total, Capital investments ($ millions) | Year to Dec 2026 | 3,500 | 3,600 | Jul 28, 2026 |
| Upstream total, Production (MBOE/d) | Year to Dec 2026 | 970 | 1,010 | Jul 28, 2026 |
| Total capital investments ($ billions) | Year to Dec 2026 | 5.0 | 5.3 | Jul 28, 2026 |
| Brent (US$/bbl) — price assumption | Year to Dec 2026 | 80.00 | 80.00 | Jul 28, 2026 |
| WTI (US$/bbl) — price assumption | Year to Dec 2026 | 75.00 | 75.00 | Jul 28, 2026 |
What this means. Production is measured in thousands of barrels of oil equivalent per day, so 780 to 805 means the average amount produced each day, not a one-time total.
Did Cenovus keep its past promises?
That creates an important distinction: completing a transaction can earn recognition, but the acquisition must still produce benefits. Cenovus said its upfront commercial and corporate MEG synergies had been delivered. Meanwhile, West White Rose’s expected first oil moved from the second quarter of 2026 to late in the third quarter. Execution therefore has both successes and delays.
What do Cenovus's last eight quarters show?
The sequential comparison is more revealing. Revenue rose from C$12,356 million in March to C$17,427 million in June. Income rose from C$1,570 million to C$2,870 million, even though production edged down from 972.1 thousand to 970.4 thousand BOE a day. Nearly the same energy-equivalent output produced much more money, so higher prices and refining spreads did most of the work.
The next table shows revenue, income, EPS, operating cash, capital spending, lease payments and interest paid for the latest quarters.
| Jun 2026 | Mar 2026 | Dec 2025 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | 17,427 | 12,356 | 10,883 |
| Net income | 2,870 | 1,570 | 934 |
| EPS, diluted | 1.53 | 0.83 | 0.50 |
| Cash from operations | 5,636 | 2,181 | 2,408 |
| Capital spending | 1,200 | 1,170 | 1,360 |
What this means. Interest paid shows as zero because the company includes it in cash from operations instead of reporting it separately, not because it necessarily paid no interest.
