Allstate dividend: payout and cash coverage

Allstate pays $1.08 per share quarterly, or $4.32 annually in the forecast. Its 2025 operating cash flow was $10,110 million, but conventional free cash flow is a weak shortcut for an insurer, so dividend coverage depends on claims, reserves, capital and reinsurance.

How much does Allstate pay in dividends?

Dividends start at $4.32 per share in every case for October 2027 because the current $1.08 quarterly rate supplies four payments. The base case grows that amount 5% annually to $4.54 and $4.77. The bull case repeats the latest 8% increase, reaching $4.67 and $5.04. The bear case holds at $4.32 because claims pressure could preserve capital, despite increases from $3.24 in 2021 to $4.00 in 2025.

Does Allstate’s cash cover its dividend?

A reserve is not cash in a separate account. It is an estimate of the eventual cost of claims, including claims not yet reported. As repair bills, medical evidence or lawsuits develop, the estimate can rise or fall, changing current profit before the related cash is paid. Allstate reported $10,110 million of operating cash flow in 2025, but reserve and premium-related movements make that cash flow unlike a retailer’s cash profit.

Conventional free cash flow is also a weak shortcut because premiums arrive before many claims are paid. The better test is whether Allstate can maintain profitable underwriting, absorb a severe catastrophe year and return capital while preserving statutory reserves and reinsurance protection. That is what the stock’s valuation is really asking investors to believe.

What this means. In 2024, the company spent two million dollars on treasury-stock payments but bought no shares, so we count share buybacks as zero.

What could change Allstate’s dividend?

The forecast would move toward the bear case in 2027–2028 if cooling auto pricing combines with rising injury severity and lifts loss ratios. Repeated catastrophe losses through 2029 would also weaken earnings and capital available for buybacks.
