Synopsys earnings date and guidance
Synopsys next results are expected on December 9, 2026. Watch whether customers repeatedly pay for new products while Synopsys meets its cash and debt commitments.
What has Synopsys guided for FY2027?
The weighted forecast points to a 69% gain by October 2029, hinged on rising cash generation, debt reduction and durable adoption of Synopsys–Ansys, AI and IP products. Management’s FY2027 guidance calls for revenue of $11,100–$11,200 million. It calls for non-GAAP operating margin of 44.0% and the company’s own free cash flow of $3,100 million. Through FY2030, its framework targets roughly 15% annual revenue growth and roughly 50% adjusted operating margin. Stock compensation, debt service and integration work still absorb cash.
| Period guided | Low | High | Date it was given | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | Year to Oct 2027 | 11,100 | 11,200 | Sep 30, 2026 |
| Non-GAAP Operating Margin | Year to Oct 2027 | 44.0% | 44.0% | Sep 30, 2026 |
| Free Cash Flow | Year to Oct 2027 | 3,100 | 3,100 | Sep 30, 2026 |
| Revenue | Year to Oct 2026 | 9,690 | 9,740 | Aug 26, 2026 |
| Non-GAAP Operating Margin | Year to Oct 2026 | 41.5% | 41.5% | Aug 26, 2026 |
| Free Cash Flow | Year to Oct 2026 | 2,600 | 2,600 | Aug 26, 2026 |
| Revenue | Quarter to Oct 2026 | 2,530 | 2,580 | Aug 26, 2026 |
What this means. The company’s adjusted earnings per share is much higher than its standard earnings per share because it removes large costs such as stock compensation, acquired-intangible amortization, and restructuring.
Has Synopsys kept its past promises?
A performance restricted stock unit is a promise of shares that pays only if specified results are achieved. The 2023–2025 award paid nothing because certified revenue growth was 10.3%, below its 13.0% goal. The next award excludes more than US$100 million of revenue per acquisition, so buying Ansys cannot automatically satisfy the growth test. That protects against rewarding purchased revenue, but shareholders must still judge whether management creates value by integrating the acquisition.
How have Synopsys revenue and profit trended?
The same distinction appears in Q3 FY2026. Total revenue grew about 42%, but EDA, or electronic design automation, grew 8.5%, while Design IP grew about 11%. It is like a grocery chain buying another store: combined sales rise immediately, even if the original store attracts no more shoppers.
GAAP operating margin was 14.4%, while the company’s adjusted margin was 41.6%. GAAP diluted EPS rose to $2.84 from $1.50, while adjusted EPS rose to $3.91 from $3.39. The difference reflects excluded expenses and the Processor IP disposal gain. A larger share count also means total profit does not flow through proportionately to each share.
What should I watch in Synopsys results?
The decisive evidence will be customers using the new products repeatedly while Synopsys meets its cash and debt commitments.
