How much cash does Reddit really make?
Stock compensation creates another qualification. Reddit added back $343.180 million of stock pay in calculating operating cash flow. Subtracting that amount from free cash flow produces an owner-cost illustration of $340.989 million, or 15.5% of revenue. It is not cash Reddit paid, but it shows why the specialist follows both cash generation and dilution.
| 2025 | 2024 | 2023 | 2022 | 2021 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cash from operations | 690,875 | 222,068 | -75,114 | -94,021 | -130,187 |
| − Capital spending | 6,706 | 6,248 | 9,724 | 6,233 | 2,299 |
| = Free cash flow | 684,169 | 215,820 | -84,838 | -100,254 | -132,486 |
| − Stock pay | 343,180 | 801,646 | 47,598 | 55,310 | 48,730 |
| = Real free cash flow | 340,989 | -585,826 | -132,436 | -155,564 | -181,216 |
| Real free cash flow, % of revenue | 15.5% | -45.1% | -16.5% | -23.3% | -37.4% |
What this means. The company's free cash flow matches ours, but real free cash flow is lower because paying employees with shares gives away part of the company even though no cash leaves immediately.
What does an investor pay for Reddit today?
The price-to-earnings ratio, or P/E, shows how many dollars investors pay for each dollar of annual profit. Reddit’s trailing P/E is 26.5, implying about $4.89 of past-year earnings per share. Its forward P/E is 18.2, implying about $7.13 of estimated earnings for the next year. The apparently cheaper forward valuation is therefore a bet that profit will rise by about 46%.
