What could go right or wrong for Coca-Cola?

Persistent volume growth and better cash conversion support the bull case; fading event-supported demand, weaker affordability or heavier cash demands push toward the bear case. The October 27, 2026 third-quarter report tests finished-drink volume and its relationship with concentrate shipments. Webster’s fairlife ramp through the rest of 2026 tests capacity; Coopersville’s new lines target production in 2028. The IRS appeal tests the cash cushion: Coca-Cola estimated about $14 billion of additional tax and interest exposure at December 2025, with about $900 million added during the first half of 2026.

How much cash does Coca-Cola really make?

In 2025, Coca-Cola generated $7,408 million from operations and spent $2,112 million on capital investment, leaving free cash flow of $5,296 million. Profit and cash differ because accounting recognizes earnings when rules require, while cash flow records when money moves.

Stock-based compensation is real compensation even though it does not require immediate cash. Subtracting $279 million from 2025 free cash flow gives the essay’s analytical “real free cash flow.” Both views matter: cash actually left after exceptional payments, and recurring cash generation before them.
