What has Diageo guided for the year to June 2027?

For the year to June 2027, Diageo expects broadly flat organic net sales, low-to-mid-single-digit organic operating profit growth and a mid-single-digit sales decline in North America. The North American spirits market fell 4% in calendar 2025, and management assumes the market will contract by 3.0%. Diageo expects its own regional sales to fall faster, so “improving share performance” means losing less badly than before, not necessarily gaining share immediately.

Beyond fiscal 2027, Diageo targets low-single-digit annual sales growth, mid-single-digit operating profit growth and $8 billion of cumulative free cash flow after exceptional cash costs through fiscal 2029. The savings buy time; stronger brands must eventually provide the growth.

What this means. The blank low and high values mean the company gave a general direction, such as roughly flat or a small decline, rather than a precise number.

Did Diageo keep its past promises?

Diageo reported $540 million of Accelerate savings against an earlier expectation of roughly $300 million. But Jhangiani missed his objective to hold or grow market share across two-thirds of measured markets. Lewis received full credit for his individual objectives, including the strategy review, while the sales part of the annual bonus paid nothing. A completed review is not the same as sustained growth.

What do Diageo's last eight reported periods show?

The eight periods in the accounts are half-years, not quarters. The December and June halves contain different selling occasions, so each should be compared with the same half a year earlier. The latest completed quarter is April–June 2026.

Revenue in the June half was slightly higher, but gross margin fell and reported operating income was almost erased by exceptional charges. That makes the statutory result look worse than the continuing operation, without making the underlying sales picture healthy.
