Does Prudential's cash cover its dividend?

That gross amount still funded growth and central costs. Prudential invested $383 million in new business and made further deductions for other expenditure and restructuring, leaving group operating generation at $1,154 million. Capability spending included $145 million on customers, distribution, health and technology. Rising expected releases alongside continued new-business investment is encouraging, although a specialist still asks whether capital is emerging from durable growth or temporary favourable experience.

Kept to grow and build capital — Without the $1,275 million after-tax transaction gain, mainly the Indian asset-manager sale, earnings retained after dividends and buybacks were $828 million.
